Since 1994 Claudia Pilsl has been making work which deals with art and its context within contemporary art museums and institutions. R O O M showed works from 'Kunstmuseum' and 'Tate Modern'.
In the 'Kunstmuseum' series Pilsl cut back into black and white photographs of gallery spaces, removing the works from the walls and creating a void in place of the presence of the image. Pilsl brings to view the unseen spaces which lie behind the pictures whilst keeping an echo of the gallery surfaces that the works occupied.
'Tate Modern' is a video piece exploring areas of transit within the gallery complex.
Claudia Pilsl exhibits internationally at Danielle Arnaud Gallery in London and has recently shown at John Hansard Gallery Southampton. She is currently based in Bristol.
