PAST
THE POWER AND THE GLORY
20 February 2009 - 8 March 2009

CHRIS MCSHERRY & JESSE WINE
Curated by Danielle Sachar
Bumbags waddling across piazzas, The Power and The Glory.
Two young emerging artists, Chris Mcsherry and Jesse
Wine, unite to present a duel using pointless unrealised
objects as weapons that simultaneously jostle for pride of
place for no other reason than to be looked at. Punctuated
by disparate reference points and potential, this meet
displays bizarre triumphs and failures. Whether it be
Mcsherry's architectural monuments or Wine's sexualized
candy coloured pieces, there is a humour in both their
work that undermines any allusions of grandeur. This in
turn challenges the nature and value of power and glory
in a wider sense as well as within a specific art context.
The relationship between the works parallels that of the
artists, both vying for questionable admiration and success.
Chris Mcsherry works and lives in London.
Jesse Wine is currently studying at Royal College of Art and lives in
London.
Opening Thursday - Sunday 12:00 - 18:00
